First Entry

Alright, so I’m going to try this blogging thing. It’s also my first foray into php, so the formatting or look of this page may be off or may change. Or not.
Possible topics will include:

–my exploration of Montreal

–musings on music, culture, politics, and sports that I like

–occasional thoughts on academic stuff

Pictures will come once we’re set up to do digital photography here.

EDIT: 18 Months Later

The first post was a good guess. I pretty much blog about what I said I’d blog about. I never did work out my issues with php and wound up hiring someone to customize WordPress for me. Unfortunately, the formatting didn’t translate perfectly from B2 to WordPress, which means that my older posts have a lot of white space in them and the quotes are a little messed up. Oh well.

Super Bon! doesn’t have an overarching theme, and it’s certainly not a proper “professional” blog. As far as I can tell, the Super Bon Concept is this:

–take some of the “keep in touch with friends” thing you might find on LiveJournal

–mix it with some political, philosophical and cultural commentary when I am so moved

–milk the “American in Canada” thing for all it’s worth

–put it, inappropriately, on a professional website

–post some pictures now and then

–mention when my other writing appears in print

. . .and there you have it. Enjoy!

  1. Whoa! Is this right? You\’ve relocated, and by some infinitesimal stroke of luck, I\’ve checked your page on this dreary day to find you in another country! (Not sure if you remember me; I had both you and your wife for several classes in 2002-2003 at Pitt) So I can\’t wait to hear your musings and meanderings, but how about including somewhere the story behind the move, for those of us so gravely out of the loop. All the best to you and Carrie!!!

  2. I had the very same reaction as Beau did! How are you Sterne? I had Mass Comm and Music and Media with you and Media Analysis with Carrie- two classes I can never stop talking about… and here you are in another country! Keep us all up to date on how things are going!

  3. Hello… I just got your book (from the library, unfortunately, but I will be buying it, don\’t worry). It\’s going to be a major source in my graduate thesis paper (along with Mr. Peters and Mr. Lastra among several others).

If you write about academic stuff I\’ll definitely click over here from time to time, maybe throw in a comment here and there. I\’m a theory whore.

By the way… great taste in music. 🙂

  4. Egad! An audience! Thanks for reading. Nice to hear from you Beau and Vickie, and nice to meet you JIm (don\’t worry about borrowing the book — I\’m just happy to be read). I\’ll do the whole backstory soon, but not today. Yes, I am in Canada, and yes, I no longer work at Pitt.
